Penn-Dutch Winter Picnic
by Emily Rievaulx

(Editors' Note: On Sat., February 28th, Emily Rievaulx hosted the "first annual" Penn-Dutch Winter Picnic at her home near Reinholds, PA. The emphasis was on casual socializing for people and Pyrs, and it was great fun. We look forward to future events at chez Rievaulx.)

I personally had a great time. My favorite Pennsylvania people are the Penn-Dutchies, and my home is well-suited for gatherings. Folks were respectful of both the house and yard, which I appreciated.

At the end it was nice to have help moving the food upstairs. Snow began the next day--timing is everything.

There were comments and questions that startled me, but which demonstrated that Penn-Dutchies are observant, thinking people who register all manner of detail. These are excellent qualities and make Penn-Dutchies fun to be around.

I look forward to repeating this event in August. Thanks for coming and sharing the day with me and with each other.
